Steve Ward: The 3 Skills Traders Must Develop

Top 3 Skills Traders Must Develop – Steve Ward

In episode 23 of the Desire To Trade Podcast, I interview Steve Ward, a long time coach, to discuss the skills traders must develop to succeed in trading.

We also touch on the topic of trading discipline and how to become a more disciplined trader.

After a career as a sports coach, Steve Ward transitioned to coaching traders in 2005. Today, he works mostly with institutional players, allowing him to fully exploit his talent.

Steve didn't come to trade first. In fact, he started as a trading coach even before placing his first trade. However, once he decided to trade, he had the arguable advantage of succeeding fairly quickly. Upon learning by himself, he could start trading without to much pain.

Steve discussed several important concepts linked to trading discipline. That's a topic I was quite interested in as it is one of the main challenge aspiring traders face.

The interview then moved on the top 3 skills traders must develop if they want to succeed over the long-run. Those, according to Steve are:

  1. Confidence
  2. Resilience
  3. Adaptability

For each of those essential skills, Steve provided very simplistic ways to improve them. That is definitely something you can use for your own trading.
